Mini Reunion in Ocean City (by our reporter
Anita Bellace) Thanks to Joyce Sharer's get up and go, we finally got up and converged on Ocean City, NJ,
September 9-11, 2000. Joyce Dascola, Ruth Ann Cottrill, Ida Mae Ebling, Lola Trude, Bonnie Ellis, Marlene Neff, Joyce and
I enjoyed a mini reunion on the 17th Street beach. It was a glorious September weekend: warm sunny days and cool pleasant
nights. We gathered on the beach and talked and talked. To relax sunburned tongues (lots of talking) we adjourned to the
Port O Call for cocktails, pizza, and more talk. We also visited Joyce and Arlene (Joyce's sister) Dascola's condo on 39th
and West Avenue. Arlene's artistic touch is evident in every detail.
Remember tracking (college prep, commercial, etc.), sororities, cliques, religion? In
short, the things which divided us in the 50's are not relevant to anything now. Marriage,
divorce, husbands, ex-husbands, children who grew up easy, children who grew up hard,
families, careers, health or the lack of it: these are the issues which bind us together
now. The mini reunion was a fabulous success. -- Anita Del Colliano Bellace, 9/21/00
